To connect to the internet wirelessly, you will need a "Wi-Fi" enabled portable computer or device. You may need to purchase a wireless PC card to work with your laptop. You can purchase a PC card from one of our Full Service or Internet dealers or another computer equpiment dealer.
When you connect to the Internet through a Bell Aliant Hotspot, you'll be able to surf and work at speeds comparable to the High-Speed connection you have at home. However, it is important to note that public Wi-Fi is not a secure Internet service. Data that is transmitted through common airwave frequency can be accessed.
We recommend that you take the following steps to increase the security in using Bell Aliant Hotspots:
1. Ensure an active firewall is installed on your computer
2. Ensure personal information, like credit card number, are only submitted to secure (https://) Web sites.
Please note that the sign-up process for the Bell Aliant Hotspot is securely encrypted.
