System Access Fee: this is a monthly fee, charged by all Mobility providers, to help recover some of the costs of operating a mobility communications network. These costs include such things as license fees, contribution tax, maintenance costs, the installation of new equipment etc.
911 Service fee: Bell Aliant, as well as all other telephone service providers, collect this fee on behalf of the provincial governments. Revenue from this cost recovery fee is used to maintain and improve the 911 system. 911 is available within cellular coverage regions in PEI, NB, NS, and NFLD in St. John’s only. The monthly fee is charged per working number and varies by province:
NB - 53 cents/month
PEI - 50 cents/month
NS - 68 cents/month
NFLD - does not pay fee
